Welcome to my Website
"In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest, where no one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.”
Rumi
My father, a former Navy recon photographer during WWII and founder of the family photography business, Lens & Repro, did not teach me photography. He encouraged me to learn photography and did everything he could to help make that happen. He told me of the secrets to be found in the stories (vision) of special lenses. He found me mentors and set me on my path.
My father ultimately was not a very good photographer. He knew how to use almost every camera. He just didn't use them very well. I remember one time, when he was packing for a vacation to Mexico, he chose the tiny Minox (the famous "spy" camera, the rage for all 1960's James Bond movies). When I pointed out it was a weird choice because he literally owned a camera store and could take any of the world’s most prestigious cameras yet he was choosing one that would make images that would be very grainy with mottled colors, he informed me he could pack the Minox in his socks. Upon his passing, in preparation for his funeral, I packed his beloved Minox, with a couple of rolls of film and prepaid film processing mailers, in his socks.
Unfortunately, I never made any serious portraits of my father, but I carry his spirit every time I pick up one of my cameras.

For 50 years I have taken a camera to my eye to consider lots of moments. This site is the archive of those considerations.
It is a matter of focus.
*One request from me.
If you can view on your best monitor/screen not your phone, it will better serve me to communicate with you.
Also, there are many, many images here. If you look at too many, you won't see any. Please take your time.
Thank you for looking.
Peace,
Jeffrey Kay
